THE BENEFITS OF HIRING A BESPOKE HAIR AND MAKEUP TEAM FOR YOUR WEDDING

Of course when it comes to planning a wedding there are no short cuts to perfection, it is well documented that planning your perfect wedding day is time consuming and sometimes overwhelming, but in the end ‘oh so worth it’! We know, we’ve both been there!  This was the initial inspiration when we joined forces to create BridalTeam.  Booking a galm team makes it that little bit easier for brides to find and book a freelance, bespoke hair and makeup service specialising in bridal looks under one roof so to speak, taking the stress out of finding two separate services.  It also saves on the time and organisation it would take to book two separate artists and liaise and co-ordinate with them in the lead up to the wedding.

Upon booking BridalTeam you are not only getting a hair and makeup duo, but a team with vast experience in the industry. We have spent recent years devoted to weddings and the bridal industry, working on countless real weddings as well as working collectively with bridal fashion designers and creatives to achieve a particular vision on styled photoshoots. As a your glam team we take a modern approach and are inspired by current trends from the catwalk when creating hair and makeup looks as well as breathing life into the older classic looks.

Ultimately, we seek to find harmony in what suits you and your uniqueness, as well as the overall wedding style you have chosen.  We have a flow to creating our looks that only comes with years of working together to create modern, harmonious looks that our brides love so much. We are always aiming to achieve harmony and balance in the shades used for makeup, as well as the shapes created with hair styling, as tweaking either of these to increase intensity or height for example and can take you from feeling beautiful to feeling ‘overdone’, therefore checking in with you at each step of your trial is paramount to creating your perfect look.  We pride ourselves on creating beautifully elegant red carpet looks for our clients and our brides.

Bridal hair specialist Teresa uses a range of techniques to create simply stunning hair styles from modern, classic and catwalk looks.  Where required Teresa uses extensions and hairpieces to create the most beautiful natural looking styles tailored to your specific hair type and preferences.  Tara’s focus is solely on makeup and never fails to make her brides feel the most natural, polished version of themselves, using the very best in luxury products and seamless makeup techniques to create simply stunning bridal looks.

THE SECERT TO A LIT FROM WITHIN GLOW

Is the sheer, chic, diffused application of blush  that we’re seeing on the runways and glossy magazine covers a backlash to the overwhelming era of darkly chiselled, powdery contoured cheekbones which we have been forced to endure on the likes of Instagram and Youtube for way to long now?

If it is, I for one am loving it!  Of course a beautifully structured contoured face can look amazing in professionally lit studios and photography, but that doesn’t always transfer well to real life, and harsh daylight.  This is where we can run into unfortunate situations where we see the makeup before we see the actual person.  Not a good look for anyone, never mind a bride!

Step up cream blusher!  Definitely not a new concept in makeup, but one that is experiencing a little bit of a revival.  Blush really adds balance to a makeup and can tie everything together beautifully.  Not to mention that it can bring out the whites of your eyes and teeth, as well as also sharpening your actual eye colour.  With cream blush you get a lovely creamy texture that leaves that gorgeous dewy finish to the skin, and as it is extremely user friendly, making huge mistakes with this is almost impossible. So ladies, there really is no reason not to give it a try!

My Do’s and Don’ts

DO apply just after foundation.  Apply nice and thin, and blend well into your foundation with patting motion.

DONT rub too hard or you will move the makeup underneath

DO  think about your face shape.  If you would like a nice fresh flushed look (which is the most youthful application) apply to the fullest part of your cheek, directly below your pupil, and blend mostly around the apples.  For a more defined structured and sophisticated look apply on the cheek bone and blend up into your highlighter and toward the back of the cheekbones.

DONT  forget to blend your edges.  The look we are going for is a “cloud of colour” rather than a stamp.  Take your foundation brush, or sponge, and with the residual foundation on there, soften the edges where the blush meets foundation.

DO try mixing a little bit of cream or liquid highlighter to your cream blush to add a beautiful sheen to the cheeks

DO try to leave the area free from any extra additional products for a really “glowy” look.  However, if you are oily apply a light dusting of translucent power.

PLACING THE VEIL

I just love when brides arrive for their trial with a gorgeous headpiece. It totally transforms any style from boho to classic glamour. There is so much choice, but here are a few things to consider when choosing a headpiece.

Below are some helpful tips to keep in mind when choosing your headpiece from Megan Therese, founder of Couture Bridal Accessories.

Your dress
Make sure you choose a headpiece which compliments your dress. Forehead bands for boho gowns and classic combs and tiaras for traditional brides.

Your style
Stay true to yourself and know your style. Make sure you feel like you on your wedding day and choose a piece which is in line with your own personal style.

Hairstyle
Choose your hairstyle first! It’s important you feel comfortable on your wedding day and wear your hair in a style which you adore. The headpiece comes after and has to work around your hairstyle.

Types
There are so many types to choose from! From combs to crowns and everything in between. The thing to remember is you will be wearing this piece all day, so security and comfort is key.

Hair types
For brides with fine hair, I would stay away from heavier pieces on combs as these can slip through fine hair easily.

Less is more!
If in doubt, less is more. If you can’t resist the full on wedding veil with lace trimming then keep your headpiece simple. If veils just aren’t your thing, then you can go bold with the headpiece. It’s all about balance!

Placing the veil
So this is the moment you’ve dreamed of. You have enjoyed one of the most special mornings of your life with your family and those amazing women in your life, your bridesmaids. Everyone is looking gorgeous with their hair and makeup done and all in their beautiful gowns you’ve chosen.

The mother of the bride puts in her fascinator, puts on her hat, they have helped you into your dress and everyone gasps at how gorgeous you look, so now the final step - placing the veil.
I always stay until you are ready, to place the veil in position and make sure it is secure. Now, tissues at the ready, this is it, now go and get married!
